559. El Septimo Diamond Collection Exception Esmeralda

Gifted by Xavier Bento, General Manager at El Septimo Cigars.

Location: This review was made indoors in Mellgrens Fine Tobacco’s cigar lounge.

Information:
Wrapper: Costa Rica
Binder: Costa Rica
Filler: Costa Rica
Contains 5 year aged Tobacco.

Size: 5×60, Robusto Gordo.

Wrapper:  Coffee bean, oily and silky smooth with tiny veins.

Construction: Firm, solid and even feel when lightly squeezed.

Cold draw: Cedarwood.

1st third: Starts with cedarwood, walnut, ground coffee beans and dried apricots (sweet but tart).

2nd third: Keeps a steady flow.

Burn: Burns uneven but with a firm and stable whiteish ash.

Smoke: Voluminous smoke with a medium heat feel on the tongue and a light draw.

3rd third: Well balanced flavours until the very end.

Duration: 22:30-23:50, 1h 20 min.

Conclusion: A medium bodied cigar with a medium strength profile. Overall the cigar preformed perfectly, with exception of the sideways burn halfway through, but it was easily fixed by tapping of the ash and letting it correct itself.

Result: In my book this is an 90 point cigar.
