Wrapper: Coffee bean dark brown, rough texture with small veins. (The finished product will have a smooth wrapper I’ve been told)
Construction: Firm and even feel when lightly squeezed.
Cold draw: Very light hint of floral and dried fruits notes.
1st third: Starts with a roasted corn, very floral, French butter, brioch bread, marcona almonds and maraschino cherries. Very different experience what I expected from this darker wrapper cigar.
2nd third: The overall flavours stay but the brioche bread turns to wheat biscuits (like a digestive biscuit) and a pine wood steps forward. No peppery notes at all.
Burn: Burns sharp with a firm and stable white ash.
Smoke: Voluminous white smoke with a medium cool feeling on the tongue with a light draw.
3rd third: It keeps the previous flavours but highlights the cherries and an somewhat light pepper note in the background appears in the final third brightening up the blend a bit.
Duration: 19:40-20:30, 50 min.
Conclusion: A medium bodied cigar with a mild strength profile. A very unique blend that deceives the eyes as it looks like a heavy cigar but acts like a mild looking cigar. As it really surprised me in a positive way I’d say this is definitely a cigar I’d like to revisit on a better day than this cold and humid evening.
Result: In my book this is an 93 point cigar.
