566. Casdagli Daughters of the Wind Pony Express Edicion Limitada

Gifted by Jeremy Casdagli, owner of Casdagli Cigars.

Location: This review was made indoors in Mellgrens Fine Tobacco’s cigar lounge.

Information:
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Costa Rica Puriscal & Nicaragua Esteli
Filler: Dominican Oscuro Ligero & Peruvian
Factory: IGM, Costa Rica
Comes in boxes of 15 cigars

It was first released as a special 5000 cigar release for the USA based cigarshop called Small Batch/Maxamar Ultimate Cigars. But do to popular demand it went into production for a worldwide released. Casdagli will be producing 20 000 more cigars during a two year span, still maintain its Limited Edition status, just available for more markets. Small Batch will keep its sole right as the only retailer in the US to sell it.

Size: 6×48, Square box-pressed Corona Gorda.

Wrapper: Hazelnut/milk chocolate, silky smooth with tiny veins.

Construction: Firm even feel when lightly squeezed.

Cold draw: Salted pretzels, sugar cane and light wood. Reminds me of the Spalato.

1st third: Starts with salted pretzels, brioche buns, butterscotch and a light woody note in the background. A very enjoyable start.

2nd third: Keeps the previous flavours, with hints of sweet baking spices and creamy milk chocolate lingering on the aftertaste.

Burn: Burns fairly sharp with a firm and stable white ash.

Smoke: Voluminous white smoke with a cool feeling on the tongue and a light and smooth draw.

3rd third: The only change is a more pronounced tone of the wood and it’s cedarwood. Otherwise the previous flavours keeps on giving all the way until the very end.

Duration: 20:55-22:25, 1h 30 min.

Conclusion: A full bodied cigar with a medium strength profile. This is already one of my all time favourite cigars. Perfect construction, perfect draw, a great three step ladder of flavour experience while keeping a consistent well balanced tone from start to finish.

Comparabily to the Cremello in the same line this one has a much better crescendo of flavours, that’s why it’s more complex and why it scores higher.

Result: In my book this is an 97 point cigar.
