549. Rocky Patel LB1 Robusto

Gifted by Kolja Kukuk, Managing Director of Europe for Rocky Patel Cigars.

Location: This review was made indoors in Mellgrens Fine Tobacco’s cigar lounge.

Information:
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Honduran Jamastran Ligero
Filler: Nicaraguan Esteli & Condega
Rolled by Dinora Cerroto in July 2020

Size: 5.5×50, Robusto.

Wrapper: Coffee bean, oily and silky smooth with tiny veins.

Construction: Fairly firm and even when lightly squeezed.

Cold draw: Dried plums and hay.

1st third: Starts with pencil wood, walnuts and baking spices.

2nd third: Keeps well balanced with a slight white pepper spice otherwise the same.

Burn: Burns fairly sharp with a firm and stable ash but it’s a bit flaky.

Smoke: Medium voluminous smoke with a cool feeling on the tongue and with a light draw.

3rd third: Gets hints of Swedish hardbread and cinnamon, otherwise it keeps the same.

Duration: 20:15-21:30, 1h 15 min.

Conclusion: A medium bodied cigar with a medium strength profile. It’s a bit sad it only started to evolve in the final third, if those flavours would have come earlier this would have been a much better cigar.

Result: In my book this is an 88 point cigar.
