Information:
Hoyo de Monterrey is a current pre-Revolution brand, established in 1865.
The range comprises light strength cigars, using tobacco from the premium Vuelta Abajo region in Cuba.
Handmade, then aged for 5 – 8 years.
Dress Box of 25 cigars, 2015 release.
Size: 5×48, Corona Extra (Hermosos No.4).
Wrapper: Nutty, oily and silky-smooth with tiny veins.
Construction: Firm even feel when lightly squeezed.
Cold draw: Very light taste of cedarwood.
1st third: Starts with a very creamy cream cheese note, light wood and brioche bun.
2nd third: Keeps the same smooth taste.
Burn: Burns sharp, with a white stable and firm ash.
Smoke: Light smoke, cool feeling on the tongue and a medium light draw.
3rd third: No changes, just smooth.
Duration: 22:20-23:15, 55 min.
Conclusion: A mild bodied cigar with a mild strength profile.
Result: In my book this is an 89 point cigar.
