595. Flor de Selva Year of The Ox 2021

Gifted by Maya Selva, owner of Maya Selva Cigars.

Location: This review was made indoors in Mellgrens Fine Tobacco’s cigar lounge.

Information:
Wrapper: Honduran Jamastrán
Binder: Nicaraguan Jalapa
Filler: Honduras
Limited to 250 boxes of 10 cigars (2500 cigars).

Size: 6×56, Toro.

Wrapper: Dark roasted oily coffee beans, oily and smooth feeling with tiny veins.

Construction: Fairly firm and even when lightly squeezed.

Cold draw: Earthy sweetness, dried fruits and barnyard.

1st third: Starts with a earthy sweetness, black pepper, dried apricots and 70% dark chocolate cacao. Hints of bark wood appears after 10 min.

2nd third: Caries over the previous flavours, but the chocolate is like a rich mousse, like a nice evening dessert. The peppers have left the house.

Burn: Burns a little uneven, with a firm and stable white ash.

Smoke: Medium light smoke with a cool feeling on the tongue, with a medium light draw.

3rd third: The spices of the first part returns and you can certainly start to feel the power hit you, so it can be recommended to have a sweet treat near in had. Otherwise the flavours stay consistent.

Duration: 22:17-23:57, 1h 40min.

Conclusion: A full bodied cigar with a medium to full strength profile, yet very well balanced from start to finish.

Result: In my book this is an 92 point cigar.
