Kohala is named after Jon Adams who owns Mother’s Antiques and Fine Cigars on the Big Island of Hawaii. Jon is a life long cigar aficionado, and has lived in Hawi, North Kohala for many years with his wife Dixi. They are active community members, and Jon is often referred to by locals as, “The Unofficial Mayor of Kohala”.

Size: 6.5×43, Kohala (Lonsdale).

Wrapper: Nutty shade, oily and silky-smooth with tiny veins.

Construction: Firm even feel when lightly squeezed.

Cold draw: Pine wood and Ovomaltine hot chocolate.

1st third: Starts with a creamy cup of coffee with foamed milk, a slight bite in the background of a red chili spice.

2nd third: It has smoothed out so no spicy notes in the background. There are still notes of coffee and foamed milk, supported by a creamy milk chocolate.

Burn: Burns fairly sharp with a firm and stable crisp white ash.

Smoke: Voluminous white smoke, medium heat feel on the tongue and a perfect light draw.

3rd third: Keeps it’s flavour profile from part 2.

Duration: 15:50-17:15, 1h 25min.

Conclusion: A mild to medium bodied cigar with a medium strength profile.

Result: In my book this is an 91 point cigar.
