246. Flor de Selva El Año del Cerdo (Year of the Pig) Toro Limited Edition 2019

Store bought at Cigarrummet.

Location: This review was made indoors in Mellgrens cigar lounge.

Information: Produced by Maya Selva Cigars. As the name implies, the cigar is being made in honor of the upcoming Year of the Pig, the next year on the Chinese zodiac calendar.
The cigar has a habano wrapper from Jamastran, Honduran. It sits over top a binder from Jalapa, Nicaragua and fillers from both Honduras and Nicaragua. It is being sold in 19-count boxes, 900 boxes made.

Size: 6×52, Toro.

Wrapper: Milk chocolate, silky smooth with tiny veins.

Construction: Firm even feel all over when lightly squeezed.

Cold draw: Light nutty note and light wood.

1st third: Starts with a creamy milk chocolate, light spice note of cardamom and cedarwood.

2nd third: Oddly enough I’m getting a hint of Cointreau (orange-flavoured French liquor) and gingerbread, together with the previous flavours included.

Burn: Steady and sharp burning, grayish stable and firm ash.

Smoke: Voluminous white smoke, cool feeling on the tongue and a light draw.

3rd third: Keep the same wonderful flavours from part one and two.

Duration: 16:55-18:50 1h 55min

Conclusion: A medium bodied cigar and a medium strength profile. The overall flavour profile has a quite complex layout but at the same time it’s put together with harmony. If you love Maya Selvas other creations this is right up your alley.

Result: In my book this is an 93 point cigar.
