Store bought at Mellgrens Fine Tobacco.
Location: This review was made indoors in Mellgrens cigar lounge.
Information: Hoyo de Monterrey brand was born in the plantation of the same name in San Juan y Martínez * (P.A.O.), in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo * (P.A.O.) region.
Hoyo de Monterrey is located on the fertile land along the banks of the river that runs through San Juan y Martínez.
All tobacco in the cigar is from Cuba.
Size: 5.5×56, Aromosos
Wrapper: Milk chocolate, oily and silky smooth with super tiny veins.
Construction: Firm even feel all over when lightly squeezed.
Cold draw: Cedarwood.
1st third: Starts of creamy whipped cream, soft hint of burning cedarwood and bread.
2nd third: Some hints of spice in the background, otherwise very smooth.
Burn: Burns steady but a bit wonky, stable white/gray ash.
Smoke: Light smoke, cool feeling on the tongue and a medium tight draw.
3rd third: Keeps the same smooth flavours from previous parts.
Duration: 16:10-18:10 2h.
Conclusion: A mild bodied cigar with a mild strength profile. For being a new release from Habanos this cigar is very enjoyable, smooth and creamy flavours, sadly I don’t see how this can improve over time since it doesn’t have a complex profile.
Result: In my book this is an 91 point cigar.
