240. Bespoke/Casdagli Club Mareva Gold Limited Edition 2015

Gifted by Merja Juselius, owner of Cigarrummet.

Location: This review was made indoors in Mellgrens cigar lounge.

Information: In 2014 to celebrate the partnership with Cigar Club Mareva, home of the Cigar Smoking World Championship, Bespoke cigars launched the Club Mareva Line. Many different versions have been made for this Club Mareva, the first one was a cigar with a black band which is a regular production. Then in 2015 the Gold was released, 2016 the Red known as the Especiale and finally in 2017 the black and white known as the Spalato.
The blend of this Club Mareva Gold contains, wrapper; Ecuador, binder; Dominican Rep: filler Dominican Rep, Nicaragua and Peru.

Size: 5,6X42, Mareva/Corona.

Wrapper: Milk chocolate, silky smooth with tiny veins.

Construction: Firm and even feel when lightly squeezed.

Cold draw: Light wood notes, hint of citrus and herbs.

1st third: Starts with clear notes of sandalwood, bitter coffee beans, bitter almonds and lightly toasted bread.

2nd third: Flavour wise it keeps the same but with a acidic aftertaste, it’s not very enjoyable.

Burn: Burns steady and sharp with a white stable and fairly firm ash.

Smoke: Voluminous white smoke with a medium heat feel on the tongue and a light draw.

3rd third: Keeps the same from previous parts and sadly the acidic part doesn’t go away I’m afraid.
The flavours of sandalwood and toasted bread really flows well together but the bitter coffee beans and bitter almonds with the lemony acidity really twists my expectations.

Duration: 18:55-20:05 1h 10min.

Conclusion: A medium bodied cigar with a medium bodied strength profile. Sadly this one didn’t tickle the right spots on my taste palette, but it also shows how much the blends that came after this one improved.
I’ve already written about the other 3 from the Club Mareva line up and sadly this one fell short for me.

Result: In my book this is an 85 point cigar.
