213. La Aurora Cigars Puro Vintage 2007 Edicion Limitada

Gifted by Gustavo Velayos, Sale’s and Marketing director of La Aurora Cigars.

Info: The cigar is limited to 6000 boxes of 10 cigars in each box. It consists of Dominican wrapper, Ecuadorian binder and the filler consists of tobacco from Dominican Rep, Brazil and Nicaragua. All tobaccos are from the 2007 harvest. It’s the regular Puro Vintage size of a Salomon 6″ 1/2 x 50/60.

Location: This review was made indoors in a cigar lounge.

Wrapper: Milk chocolate, oily and silky smooth with tiny veins.

Construction: Firm even feel all over.

Cold draw: It reminds me of an freshly emptied cognacs barrel of oak wood.

1st third: Starts with a smooth creamy hazelnut note, caramel sweetness and a light wood note in the background.

2nd third: Keeps the same smooth flavours from part one.

The burn: Burns fairly sharp with some minor re-light corrections needed. Firm and stable white-ish ash with some flaky bits.

Smoke: Light smoke with a cool feeling on the tounge and a light draw.

3rd third: Gets a hint of medium roasted coffee and a cognac oak barrel, otherwise it keeps its previous flavours until the very end.

Conclusion: A mild to medium bodied cigar with a mild strength profile. Very well balanced cigar, would go well with an unsweetened rum, a smooth cognac or a creamy cappuccino.

Result: In my book this is an 91 point cigar.
